All these berries are quite a gift because blackberries (just like other cane fruits) fruit in two-year old canes, and our blackberries were bought as small bare root plants.

I planted our blackberries on the area between the walkway and the road. This way I won't have to worry about these aggressive canes popping up where I need room for other tree root's to grow. I also made sure to ask my neighbor if they minded having some blackberries on their side of the strip and they smiled and said "bring 'em on!" I was able to save on putting a barrier between their grassy area and my cultivated portion. A win win.
