Bleeding Heart Vine
Apparently the bleeding heart makes for a pretty good cut flower. These have been in this bottle with plain ol' water for four days now and are still doing just fine.
Pros: vine does not climb by tendrils (like, say, a passion vine would) so it is safe to plant near the house, just give it some sort of support to keep it happy. Not particular about soil, ours is in non-amended, pure, crappy Florida soil and it is blooming like it was planted in pure compost! Drought tolerant once established. Thus far, virtually pest free (even though it is right next to a white hibiscus that consistently gets mites and other bad stuff). Even the leaves are gorgeous. Makes for a lovely cut flower.
Cons: finding the best sun placement can be tricky at first when once you get it there is no end to this plant's beauty. Not too easy to propagate, thus far I have only been successful doing it by root division (cuttings not successful so far).

I always wondered about the Bleeding Heart Vine, thanks for info. I came over by way of Central Gardening
These are BEAUTIFUL pictures of your bleeding heart!! Great job!
PS. I'd like to see more of your painting behind it... Share your artwork, woman! :)
Hi Darla & thanks for the comment and thanks for visiting...oh and thanks for thanking me ☺
GJ- Thank you...and that you see behind the flowers is a Picasso. He tried to emulate my first-grader style painting...he died knowing he could never paint like me...that is the real reason VanGoh nicked his ear off also...poor little fellas...
Oh Darla- You & Central Fl Gardening (GJ) will get a 10% off referral coupon in the mail :--)
LOL, 10% off! Too funny! Sheesh, I think I need to brush up on art, ya think? I never considered that it would be any artist other than you! I kept trying to make it part of the owl you showed us earlier. Duh! I must be in a house-cleaning-fume-kind of fog, eh? Parents are coming in 2 days, what am I doing on here?! Must stop stalking... I mean visiting... your blog. :-)
Are you serious? Do you really want to make the owl? I am going to look for the image I copied it from and email it to ya...hopefully you can print it and it should make things easier...
