Beneficial insects

By golly, I just cannot take even a mediocre photo of a hoverfly. They move very fast and are so tiny! Anyway, these is a work horse of the garden. Their larvae munch on several insects you just don't want to have around (think aphids and the leaf hoppers).

This mature hoverfly is eating from our alyssum, which also attracts the good parasitic mini-wasps. Good times.
