I like this experiment! I found a box of rejects at our produce stand yesterday for $3, there was a chili pepper in there - just right for seed saving. I will give this a try. :) I also bought some wonderful Meyer lemons last night, I love them. I saved the seed, but when I went to look them up they are hybrids... I think I'm going to learn how to grow citrus from cuttings and then figure out how to graft them too.
The only plant I've grown from storebought fruit is the papaya. I hope they haven't been hybridized yet. I have four trees (bushes?) growing in my yard now.

I love rejects! I am one myself! ☺☺☺

Nice find Mary, chili pepers are delicious! I have never heard of someone growing citrus from cuttings...let me know how that goes...I know you can buy rootstock on-line to do your own grafting...I might give it a try when our veg raised beds are all set. Seems like it would be a very rewarding thing to do.

How did your papayas taste? I am doing the same this summer...planting from saved seeds.

The papayas haven't produced anything yet. They are still small. I think they're a late Spring crop here in FL. :)
