"Many gardeners will agree that hand-weeding is not the terrible drudgery that it is often made out to be. Some people find in it a kind of soothing monotony. It leaves their minds free to develop the plot for their next novel or to perfect the brilliant repartee with which they should have encountered a relative's latest example of unreasonableness."
Excerpt from The Well-Tempered Garden, by Christopher Lloyd.

I just put that book on hold at the library. :)
Oooh, I like that! I always put off weeding as long as I can but when I actually start doing it, I kind of enjoy that 'soothing monotony'.
What a coinquidence Mary! :--)
GJ, yeah, right? I get into a zen/zone-like state and space out for a few moments each time I do it...oh wait, that happens during most of the day for me...oh well, weeding ain't too bad unless you let it get as bad as I let it get this past summer! :)
I love weeding I do it in sections and thankfully there are not many but when I look over it at days end there is a satisfaction and pleasant feeling when you see the results, and I swear the veges are thanking me for removing the competion for nutrients.( oh I have to get out more)
Hi there! I must tell you that every time I see your pic on your postings the expression on your husband's face makes me smile :--)
I agree, vegs really do grow so much better without the 'food' competition! Although, I got to admit, some weeds I actually like...Spanish Needle comes to mind ☺☺☺ Take care!
LOL... your update... been there, done that. And by the way, I don't see anything wrong with the pic. :)
Really, GJ? Well...the fact you like your greens over cooked would explain a lot & perhaps it would explain this too. :P
But thank you anyway...
