Jatropha Podagrica

AKA Buddha Belly Plant. Its leaves are gorgeous and large as dinner plates. Its flowers loved by all the butterflies in our garden.
They are not particular about soil as long as it drains well. For me they shed their leaves about once or twice a year (they look dead for a month or so) but then they come right back as lovely as ever. Drought tolerant.

Best way to collect the seeds from their seed pods (here shown while still green) is to put some sort of a net that will let the sunlight through but would also catch the tiny seeds when the pods explode (they really do). Seeds that I've had for over a year are still viable. Plants started from seed germinate in about a week or two, but they take a long time to grow after that.
